There are SO many good reasons why you should be going barefoot more often! I give just 50 of them in my book, The Barefoot Book: 50 Great Reasons to Kick Off Your Shoes. For me, though, the number one reason is simply comfort. And feeling the earth beneath your feet versus trapped in shoes? It's like seeing the world in color instead of black-and-white.

There are real health benefits to going shoeless as often as possible. In fact, most of our foot problems can be traced back to our shoes and the fact that we wear them so often. Hallux valgus, bunions, ingrown toenails, athlete's foot, toenail fungus, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis and Morton's neuroma are just some of the many problems caused by footwear.

Unfortunately, the main reason people don't go barefoot in public is the social stigma against it. Yet an online poll indicated that 3/4 of us want go barefoot even in public! So kick off your shoes. The stares you get are likely from others wishing they were barefoot, too!

The Barefoot Professor
In our modern civilized society, walking around barefoot is something we do in our backyard. But when college professors start showing up in class without shoes, you know something unusual must be going on. You’re about to learn something new—the wonders of foot design.

"Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."

Exploring the Body Machine began as a lab manual for A&P students at Liberty University and is now a full-blown textbook / lab manual / online resource (xatomy.com) for students taking anatomy. All eleven organ systems are thoroughly discussed in 33 chapters along with cells, tissues, anatomical terminology, and surface anatomy. The website includes over 500 original illustrations that allowed me the opportunity to mix my love of anatomy with my love of art and computers.

It's often said that evolution is science and creationism is religion. Although this opinion is widely held by the public - including many religious people - it represents a misunderstanding of both creationism and evolution. In my newest book, Sometimes Deceived: Why Evolution is Fake Science, I explain why neither contention is true. Creationism is not religion and biological evolution is not science.

So what are they?

They are both myths in the literal and historical sense of the word: a creation story generally accepted as true by its adherents and which encapsulates the worldview and deepest values of those who believe.
All religions have a creation myth, but until the theory of evolution came along, atheists had no origins story of their own. Prior to evolution, atheists could reject God and the traditional creation story, but they had no replacement. If God didn't create, where did the universe come from? How did life on Earth get started? Darwin and his colleagues supplied the answer, but it was nothing less than a full-scale attack on the Judeo-Christian establishment of the Western world. By crafting a new creation myth for the atheist worldview, Darwin filled the proverbial vacuum that Nature so abhors, an accomplishment perhaps bigger than discovering the origin of biological species.
Darwinism is a worldview and evolution its creation myth. Evolution is no more a "science" than creationism is. However, both evolution and divine creation can be studied scientifically as hypotheses for human origins. When viewed this way, the "mountain of evidence" for evolution is recognized as simply a mountain of evidence. While it is the job of the scientist to undercover that evidence, it is your job to interpret that evidence for yourself. If you look at the evidence honestly, you may find it points you to creation, not evolution.

Darwinism is much bigger than biology. It is a worldview that impacts how one thinks about everything! There are solid logical and scientific reasons why you can confidently reject Darwinism and biological evolution. Rejecting Darwinism does not make you a science-denier or a flat-Earther. On the contrary, It liberates your mind and allows you to see things as they truly are.
